REFLECTIONS OF THE CROSS
These reflections are enough in themselves to enable us to pray. If you have the time, each station can begin with the prayer:
We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you.
Because by your holy cross you have
redeemed the world.
Each station can end with the prayer:
Lord, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us.
May they provide some inspiration for you.
JESUS IS CONDEMNED TO DEATH
How often have we judged others wrongly, rashly? How often have we been misjudged, unjustly judged? Look what Pilate did to Jesus and pray.
JESUS IS MADE TO CARRY THE CROSS
What are the crosses we carry each day? Join with Jesus who was made to carry His cross and embraced it willingly for love of us.
JESUS FALLS THE FIRST TIME UNDER THE CROSS
Falls, oh, how many times we fall. Jesus shows us what to do. Get up and carry the cross with Jesus.
JESUS MEETS HIS BLESSED MOTHER
Only a mother can know Mary's pain. Ask her for help when you feel the pain of your child's suffering. Ask for compassion.
SIMON HELPS JESUS CARRY HIS CROSS
A stranger from the crowd helps Jesus with His cross. When we help others with their crosses, we, too, help Jesus.
VERONICA WIPES JESUS' FACE WITH HER VEIL
Veronica, a compassionate woman, wipes Jesus' face. Can we see the face of Jesus in the many suffering people who need our touch of love?
JESUS FALLS A SECOND TIME UNDER THE CROSS
No, it doesn't seem to end. We continually fall away from goodness. Jesus fell, again. He did not quit. Can we?
THE WOMEN OF JERUSALEM WEEP OVER OUR LORD
The women weep at the sight of Jesus and hear His words, always expressing care for others. "Weep not for me but for yourselves and your children." Lord, teach me to care for others.
JESUS FALLS THE THIRD TIME UNDER THE CROSS
"I just can't take anymore. "Who could say that more than Jesus? Prayer kept Him going. It will keep us going, too.
JESUS IS STRIPPED OF HIS GARMENTS
Jesus is stripped before the crowd. What is it like to lose everything, especially our human dignity? Jesus found out. Pray to accept the losses that we feel.
JESUS IS NAILED TO THE CROSS
Does it have to be so awful? Couldn't it happen more quickly? May we prepare so we will be ready for the final hours of our lives?
JESUS DIES ON THE CROSS
The great mystery of death and eternal life is before us. All we have is our faith.
JESUS IS TAKEN DOWN FROM THE CROSS AND LAID IN THE ARMS OF HIS BLESSED MOTHER
Mary, guide us, strengthen us, pray for us to accept God's will as you did. Help all parents to love as you did and to unite their suffering with your.
JESUS IS LAID IN THE TOMB
How strange. The Son of God in a tomb. Lord, free us from the tombs of anxiety, greed, fear, in which we place our lives. Give us your peace.
THE RESURRECTION
Jesus rises from the dead. Eternal life is ours. There are no words, only a heart filled with gratitude for God's eternal love, only a prayer for faith in God's loving plan for us.
